Why aren't the exact weights and thresholds published?
Using MaegimLast updated
What is measured (the indicator list), why (the selection rationale), and by what principle (sector-relative scoring against fixed thresholds) are all public — as are each stock's indicator values, sector-median comparisons, and source-filing links. Only the exact weights, transformation functions, and threshold values are withheld, for two reasons: ① continuously improving the formula based on backtests requires the operational flexibility of not fixing published numbers, and ② published boundary values invite score gaming and boundary disputes.
This is a disclosed principle, not concealment — the methodology page states it explicitly. It is the same approach credit-rating agencies and index providers take: methodology public, precise coefficients private. When the formula changes, the methodology version and a summary of changes are announced, and each grade shows the version it was produced under.
